You cannot pay your Capital One credit card with a debit card, regardless of whether you are trying to pay online, in person, or over the phone. Capital One also does not allow you to pay a credit card balance with a different credit card, except for balance transfers.
Other Options for Paying Capital One Credit Card Bills
- Online with a checking or savings account
- Over the phone with a checking or savings account
- By mail with a check or money order
- In person at a branch with cash, a check or a money order
One way you can indirectly use a debit card to make a Capital One credit card payment is to withdraw money from an ATM with the debit card, then pay in cash either in person at a branch or at one of the issuer's ATMs. However, this just adds steps to the payment process, so it should be easier to pay using any of the methods we listed above.

As of August 6 2023, I was not able to pay Capital One CC online with a debit card. The only option was to link a bank account.
@: I had the same issue about 1 hour ago. I have always paid my Capital One credit card by debit bank card because it not only takes the payment out immediately, but it allows you to see the increase in your available credit right away! I'm sad.
Same the last few months I paid with my debit card and all of a sudden I had to add my bank account to pay idk why they would do this the debit card was the most combiner because the payment came out right then and there versus you having to wait for it to be drafted from your bank account and might spend the money on accident
OMG same! I ALWAYS pay by debit. I paid my bill a few days ago for September and I was wondering why the payment wasn’t coming out of my account. I had it defaulted to pay from my card but it automatically changed and I didn’t notice it. I am livid that the option doesn’t even show now.

As of 17 March 2022, paying on the phone is no longer possible. Calling the customer service number in the other answers here simply results in the representative (and also the automated system) telling you that you may pay by phone only with a checking, savings, or money market account. The representative I just spoke to told me that accepting payment by debit card or another credit card over the phone "caused too many fees to be paid by the customer" and that they no longer accepted that method. He said that a payment may be made in person at certain retail stores (such as Walmart) by Western Union or Moneygram. In my case, if I was able to go to Walmart to pay in person, I'd simply go to the bank, make a deposit, and pay using my normal banking payment method. So thanks for nothing, Capital One.

What Cory said. This is outdated information, they will not accept these at all anymore.
This apparently isn't available anymore. I have a visa debit gift card and called customer service to pay my card, and they said they're unable to take that type of payment.
